I write not to praise Microsoft

...but I am much happier with Word 2004 than 1995.

This is not, however, because Word 2004 is so great, simply because 95 was garbage and always crashig on me. Even though I would save multiple times, whenver it crashed I lost all my saves.  And yes I had autosave on.

Word 2004 works. And it is a sad state of affairs that a program that simply works is filling me with joy that bubbles over.

Ever run into RED or TED?
Little tiny text editors that weighed in at 3-4k, as I recall. Worked like the old WordStar.
Or at least I think I remember them :)

No, I haven't.

Right now I am tetherd to Word because I am applying for jobs. Last year I had problems where the people I sent my job apps to electronically were not able to open some of the files because they weren't the newest Word. Some of them didin't bother to tell me until I asked, they just discarded me from candidaxy because they couldn't open them.

Don't forget my standing offer to send you an OpenOffice CD. Remember, it can read and write many many different office-product formats, including Microsoft Word. Some people say it's better at reading different versions of Word documents than Microsoft's own offering.

*nods*

I may after I get hired at a new job. I am just a paranoid because of the issue last time with people not able to open my applications.
